If you want to work with your photos on Amazon's Kindle device, you are now in luck. Adobe has now released a version of Adobe Photoshop Touch for the Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9-inch device for $9.99. They are also supporting the updated 7-inch Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD. Looks like any Kindle running Android 4.0 or above will now be supported.
Recently I finished a retouching project called the Dark Knight with photographer Brian Bailey and I wanted to share a bit about the making of the series.
The theme for this endeavor was Parkour meets Gotham City. We wanted to showcase the fluid movement of Parkour with a backdrop of gothic cityscapes. Our goal was to transform common Denver landmarks into a dark and sinister world. I loved the idea of taking Denver and turning it into a dark cinematic backdrop for the renegade sport of Parkour so this was an exciting project.
With the new version of any software there's always changes that leave us asking, "Where did that go?". With the introduction of the new Photoshop CS6, it was no different. With CS6 having more changes than any release of Photoshop in a very long time, you can be certain you will be wondering where some of your favorite tools went. Some were moved, changed or renamed but most of them still exist. It's just a matter of finding them. Lets take a look at where the Mask panel went and what happened to the Adjustments panel.
Adobe has released a new update to Photoshop's Camera Raw 6.7 for Photoshop CS5. New to the update is support for 21 new camera models including Canon's 5D Mark III and Nikon's D4 & D800. A number of bugs were fixed in the update including a fix for files appearing differently in Lightroom 4 and ACR 6.7. Yo can read more about the fixes and new cameras supported here.
You can download the update here or select Updates from the Help menu.
One of the many questions I get in my Photoshop classes is how to do selective black and white photos where the subject is in color but the background is desaturated and turned to black and white. One of my Photoshop students, Jo Brady, happened on this fox in her yard one morning and caught it in this great picture. She wanted to turn the background black and white while leaving the fox in color to enhance its presence. So I thought I would share a step-by-step process on how to do this in Photoshop CS6. You can also do this in older versions of Photoshop including Elements.
If you were one of the many people who have downloaded the new Photoshop CS6 Beta (codename: Superstition) from Adobe you may have been a bit surprised to see the name Superstition and a cat on the opening splash screen. Well, I was surprised when I first launched it too and had to find out what was behind it all.
Adobe has released a beta version to the public of Photoshop CS6. You can download the beta and take it for a spin and help Adobe mold the final release.
Well, this not really a sneak peek at the application but its a video that was created entirely in the new upcoming Photoshop CS6. Looks like its getting better editing tools in order to pull this off.
Adobe is still giving us more peeks in to the upcoming Photoshop CS6 and Adobe Photoshop Product Manager, Stephen Nielson, is showing us a new feature called Iris Blur. True, we have Lens Blur in Photoshop CS5 but this takes it to another level and makes it as easy as pointing and adjusting a graphic on top of the picture with real time previews. These kind of improvements will make using filters like this so easy you'll forget about alpha channels and such. Notice the dark interface of Photoshop too in this video.
